Flatting Project
In Maths we got to do something that was a bit different, we got to move out of home! Just joking but it sure felt like it. But, there was a lot of maths that involved moving out. This is my finished project:
Novel Studies
In Reading, we have been doing novel studies. We got to choose a book that we liked which I loved doing that because we didn't have to read a school journal every day. Then we got to do some activities on that book. Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish because I had to give my book back to the library.

If an attacker team gets to the opposite small ball of the other attacker team they win. If an attacker gets tagged by a defender the attacker becomes a defender and the defender becomes an attacker.
Pick-a-path
We have been making Pick-a-Path stories click the link to go and do my wonderful horror story of a creepy thing in your room. We first had to write up a plan on paper then we got the choice to write it up on google forms or google slides. Then after that we added lots of detail the story.

Narrative
I have had fun in writing creating this narrative I really like it but there was a lot of planning we had to do for it, and lot's of editing to do after it. Here it is:

Electronics-Tech
I have now finished my light box here is my slide:
Monday, 30 October 2017
Electronics-Tech
At the moment we are making emergency lights. I am making mine on a box so I can keep things in it. First, we had to drill holes in it so we could put the lights in. Then once the lights were in we had to mark out which was the long legs and which were the short legs, we did that with Vivid. Then we had to solder the long legs to the copper tape which was stuck beside the lights. Now I am working on soldering the resistors to the short legs so we can stick on the copper tape

Snail Race (Maths)
What I found out during the game:
Seven is winning mostly closely followed by five and six.
One and Twelve aren't moving at all.
Two, Three, Four and Eleven are moving but very slowly.
Eight, Nine and Ten are following behind Five and six.
First Place:
Six
Second Place:
Seven
Third Place:
Eight
After the game:
Six and seven were winning the whole game and five was coming third but in the end eight over taked five and came third.
One and Twelve still didn’t move the whole game.
Nine was close behind eight the whole way.
There are a lot of ways to make seven and six so it always has a good chance of winning.
But the numbers that were slower than others like four, three and two and eleven don’t have a lot of ways they only have one or two ways.
One, with two dice is impossible to make and twelve is hard to make because it needs two six’s.

The next day we visited this again. We drew up another table in our books and we found out that 7 is actually the best number, it has more chances of winning than any other number.

Mandarin learning
Yesterday in mandarin we learnt about the chinese zodiac which is a chinese tradition. All the years are named after the 12 animals each animal has it's own year.
The rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and last but not least the pig. They are all the 12 animals that won the race...
A wizard called all the animals down the to river and said we will have a race across the river! All of the animals were excited apart from the rat and the cat they were sacred because they hate water. But willing to get the price - a chance to have you named after a year- in the end The rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and the pig came in the top twelve in that order and they had a year named after them

"Trash"
In class we are reading a book called trash. It is about three boys and they find a wallet. it's got some valuable thing in there. But the police want it, and where they live the police are dangerous and will do anything for the wallet. So the three boys had to hide the wallet somewhere. They had to hide it so the police would not get it. In the wallet there was a clue so the boys followed it to the translation. When they get back the police take one of the boys away and beat him to tell them where the wallet is but he doesn't. One of the clues in the translation was a guy at the jail would help them out. So on eof the boys went and tried to find out anything he can.

Persuasive Text
Molly, Sofia.V, Chloe and I wrote a persuasive text together. We had about one week to do this. We got to choose between some animals that Miss Pitt chose. We chose the Grizzly Bear. We did alot of research and worked as a team to create this text. I thought it was really fun because I like to work as a team when we write.
Persuasive Text:
Grizzly bears may be huge and scary but really, with a bit of training and a lot of love grizzly bears could be your very own special pet. It will be like the t.v coming to life! No more burglaries, no more feeling scared, No more freezing cold nights. It’s a 3 in one deal the grizzly bear is the answer!
Have you ever been scared about being robbed? Well no need to fear anymore because the grizzly bear will save you! You will never have to be scared or worried again. The grizzly bear is at the top of the food chain so they can protect themselves, Also Grizzly bears have better sense of smell than a hound dog so they will know if something isn’t right! If you had a house burglary, what pet would you rather have, a simple cute white bunny or a big Grizzly bear, at your door?
A grizzly bear is a great companion buddy. They are fluffy and cuddly just like a teddy bear. You will always have someone to talk if you are down, they live for 28 years so they will be there for a while. They hibernate during the winter so you will be able to spend time with family and friends in the cold seasons.
Do you think a grizzly bear is hard to feed? Think again! Do you have lot’s of wasted food? Well, you wouldn’t have to waste food if you had a grizzly bear. You wouldn’t have to pay lot’s of money for pet food because you would just feed them leftovers. Also the grizzly bear's diet consists mostly of berries, nuts and insects so you wouldn’t have to buy meat for them. Plus, they eat insects so your house will always be insect and pest free!
No more burglaries, no more feeling scared, No more freezing cold nights, no more wasting leftovers. I guarantee you it will be an amazing idea. You want a grizzly bear? Well stop what you are doing and buy a grizzly bear now!

Decimals Learning
In class we are learning to order decimals up to three decimal place and put them on a number line. Yesterday Giselle, Sofia and I went outside and Miss Pitt gave us some fractions, decimals, pictures of fractions and percentages and we had to put them on a number line from 0-2 as accurate as we can. Here are some photos of are number line.
Then the next day we attended a workshop that Miss Pitt ran and we learnt how to order decimals from smallest to largest and add on and subtract of the decimals. I learnt a lot but I think the most important thing I learnt was that you have to put all the decimals in between before you put the decimals on. I think I need to work on is subtracting a adding on tenths and hundreths.

Picasso Art
Pablo Picasso was a very famous artist that was known for his amazing skill to break the rules in his art. Pablo was a spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright that spent most of his life in france. He was born 25 October 1881 and died 8 April 1973. I really like his art style because it is not normal is it a bit crazy but it is really clever. I think that everyone will remember him as long as his art stays around.
Here is my own art work:

Revolution Tour
Today the Revolution Tour came to our school and blake a rapper talked to us using his life and rapping. He talked about seeing the value in us and seeing it in other people. He said that this one phrase 'I see it in you my friend' it changed his life because he didn't think he had any value in him so he didn't see it in anyone else to he thought if he gave other people pain then they might not see him. So he told us to see the value inside of everyone and especially yourself because then if you see the value in yourself and in other people other people will see the value in you.
Other than that he also entertained us really well by using his rapping skills have a look!
Blake rapping of random things in people's pockets
Over all I think Blake is a good Speaker and a very good rapper!

Sample Writing
Writing:
Finding our parents
“AHHHHH”! My sister screams as we fall into the icy depths of the river.
The greenish, dull seaweed is blinding me so I can’t see where we’re going so I just say “don’t worry just stay calm and it will be ok”. I am 3 years and 5 months older then my sister (Charlotte) but we are about the same size, my Father said that it doesn’t matter because i’m smaller so the farmer won’t want to shoot and eat me.
It’s been over a hour since we first fell into the water but it has felt like a week! I just hope that we do wash up on shore soon because other wise we might be in the water for days!. Then suddenly we feel a huge BUMP! Yes, I thought we finally hit land, but the bad thing is where are we?
Charlotte is the first to get up and gallop around then I get up but I don’t look as goofy as she does. “YAY” she shouts “we’re alive”! “Yea but how are we going to stay alive”? I ask cautiously.
“That’s easy Dad told us all we need to know how to stay alive in the woods so we should be fine”. She has a point, last year Dad taught us all the things he knew about staying alive in the woods, so I feel a bit better.“And Mum told us how to always follow the river”, she continues like she doesn’t ever know that i’m silent, but again she is right (Charlotte: 2, Me: 0) we live by a river on a farm so we just follow the river we will find our way home again easy peasy, I hope…
Over a week has past and so far we’ve been doing pretty well with this whole ‘trying to stay alive in the woods’ thing. Charlotte is starting to bug me though because she hasn’t stopped TALKING! Then out of the blue this huge cage comes down on us with a sudden THUD! Now we’re trapped from the outside world.
I see us being heaved into a truck and then we start driving. The river starts getting further and further away and I mutter “there goes our chance to get home”, but little did I know something shocking was just right round the corner.
There’s a sudden stop and we slide forward in the cage so we’re pushed up against the cage door. I try to look out but Charlotte is in the way. I can hear all kinds of different animals and i’m puzzled. I thought we were taken away from the woods? “Mummy Daddy”! My sister yelled excitedly. Now i’m even more confused. I am grateful when we are let out of the cage I sprint out only to be steared at lovingly by... My parents? “Hi James I see you’ve grown”, My Mum says calmly like she has not just been reunited with her son and daughter that have been away from her for TWO MONTHS! “Um.. Hi”, I answer “How”. But i’m cut of “Don’t worry about all the things that just happened, just let me explain. There was a plan to see if you could survive in the woods”, my Dad explained to me. “WHAT”! I scream. So that was all a plan! “Yea”, exclaimed Charlotte.
“You knew as well”! I’m so confused. My Dad continues, “We didn’t want to send you alone so we sent Charlotte with you, and it was all planned to have them capture you and bring you here to meet us”.
“Oh my gosh”, I say,
Now I get it.

Passion Project Q Matrix
We have been doing this term for inquiry a 3 part inquiry this is part 2 a passion project. This Q Matrix is what we used to find the questions that we used in our passion project the highlighted questions is what I used.
Maths
This term we have been learning about algebra and at the moment finding the rule in the patten. Here is some work I have done on finding the rule in a patten:
Passion Project-Netball
- When did the silver ferns become a netball team?
The silver ferns have been playing in netball games since 1938!
- Why do some people think that netball is just a girls sport?
Because netball is like basketball but it’s basically made more for girls. But when you think about there are a lot of boys netball teams around the world so I don’t see why some people think netball is just for girls! Yes you wear skirts and dresses when you play but the boys could easily just wear shorts. I think overall that netball is a sport not just for girls but for boys as well.
- Why would people choose to play netball?
Report-Netball
7 aside Netball
Netball is a game that has been around for many years. The aim of the game is to pass the ball to the goal circle so the shooter can shoot a goal.
Positions
There are 7 players on one team in 7 aside netball. GS, in shooting circle. GA behind the line in their shooting third. GD, behind the line diagonal from GA. GK, is in the opposite from GS in the other teams shooting circle. WA, stands to the right of GA. WD, is behind the line diagonal from WA. C in the middle third. There is also another team with same positions.
Basic Rules
Different from basketball, Netball you cannot step with the ball as soon as you get the netball in your hands you cannot move only pivot around on your grounded foot. You are not allowed to push and shove in netball if you do that is called obstruction. Only GS GA and the opposite team GD, GK are allowed in the shooting circle. C is allowed everywhere on the court apart from the shooting circle.
This is where the players are allowed:
Equipment
Bibs are pieces of fabric with elastic that you slip on over your clothes they say what position you are playing. To play netball you need to use a netball so you have something to pass around the court. Something that you also use is a goal that you shoot your netball in and that's how you get points by shooting goals. It’s a rule that you have to wear sneakers/trainers so you can run around and pivot on the hard concrete and also so if someone stands on your foot it won’t hurt.
Types of 7aside netball
First there is outdoor netball which is played normally at day time and outside. Then indoor netball is like outdoor but has some different rules and it’s played inside. The 3rd is twilight which is played outside but it’s played at night in the dark but it has the same rules as outdoor.
New Zealand Netball team
The New Zealand team is a big part of NZ. The silver Ferns are NZ netball team and they play to represent New Zealand. The players in 2017 are:
Katrina Grant, Captain/ GD, GK Grace Rasmussen, WA, C, GA
Maria Tutaia, Vice Captain/ GA, GS Te Paea Selby-Rickit, GA, GS
Gina Crampton, WA, C Samantha Sinclair, C, WA, WD
Kayla Cullen, GD, WD and C Jane Watson, GK, GD
Shannon Francois, C, WA Maia Wilson, GS
Anna Harrison, GK, WD and GD Grace Rasmussen, WA, C, GA
Kelly Jury, GK, GD Storm Purvis, GK, GD
Phoenix Karaka, GK, GD Bailey Mes, GS, WA and GA
Netball is such an exciting, energetic and very fun sport have a go!
