Sample Writing

Writing:
Finding our parents

“AHHHHH”! My sister screams as we fall into the icy depths of the river.
The greenish, dull seaweed is blinding me so I can’t see where we’re going so I just say “don’t worry just stay calm and it will be ok”.  I am 3 years and 5 months older then my sister (Charlotte) but we are about the same size, my Father said that it doesn’t matter because i’m smaller so the farmer won’t want to shoot and eat me.

It’s been over a hour since we first fell into the water but it has felt like a week! I just hope that we do wash up on shore soon because other wise we might be in the water for days!. Then suddenly we feel a huge BUMP! Yes, I thought we finally hit land, but the bad thing is where are we?

Charlotte is the first to get up and gallop around then I get up but I don’t look as goofy as she does. “YAY” she shouts “we’re alive”! “Yea but how are we going to stay alive”? I ask cautiously.
“That’s easy Dad told us all we need to know how to stay alive in the woods so we should be fine”. She has a point, last year Dad taught us all the things he knew about staying alive in the woods, so I feel a bit better.“And Mum told us how to always follow the river”, she continues like she doesn’t ever know that i’m silent, but again she is right (Charlotte: 2, Me: 0) we live by a river on a farm so we just follow the river we will find our way home again easy peasy, I hope…

Over a week has past and so far we’ve been doing pretty well with this whole ‘trying to stay alive in the woods’ thing. Charlotte is starting to bug me though because she hasn’t stopped TALKING! Then out of the blue this huge cage comes down on us with a sudden THUD! Now we’re trapped from the outside world.

I see us being heaved into a truck and then we start driving. The river starts getting further and further away and I mutter “there goes our chance to get home”, but little did I know something shocking was just right round the corner.

There’s a sudden stop and we slide forward in the cage so we’re pushed up against the cage door. I try to look out but Charlotte is in the way. I can hear all kinds of different animals and i’m puzzled. I thought we were taken away from the woods? “Mummy Daddy”! My sister yelled excitedly. Now i’m even more confused. I am grateful when we are let out of the cage I sprint out only to be steared at lovingly by... My parents? “Hi James I see you’ve grown”, My Mum says calmly like she has not just been reunited with her son and daughter that have been away from her for TWO MONTHS! “Um.. Hi”, I answer “How”. But i’m cut of “Don’t worry about all the things that just happened, just let me explain. There was a plan to see if you could survive in the woods”, my Dad explained to me. “WHAT”! I scream. So that was all a plan! “Yea”, exclaimed Charlotte.
“You knew as well”! I’m so confused. My Dad continues, “We didn’t want to send you alone so we sent Charlotte with you, and it was all planned to have them capture you and bring you here to meet us”.
“Oh my gosh”, I say,
Now I get it.

Passion Project-Netball

  • When did the silver ferns become a netball team?
The silver ferns have been playing in netball games since 1938!
  • Why do some people think that netball is just a girls sport?
Because netball is like basketball but it’s basically made more for girls. But when you think about there are a lot of boys netball teams around the world so I don’t see why some people think netball is just for girls! Yes you wear skirts and dresses when you play but the boys could easily just wear shorts. I think overall that netball is a sport not just for girls but for boys as well.
  • Why would people choose to play netball?
Because Netball is a fun, energetic sport that you can get really fit playing. Netball is not just passing the ball around you actually have to talk with your team to think up a plan, so netball is actually a great sport to make new friends as well. Also it’s not just for young kids all ages can play netball.Image result for netball

Report-Netball

7 aside Netball

Netball is a game that has been around for many years. The aim of the game is to pass the ball to the goal circle so the shooter can shoot a goal.
Positions
There are 7 players on one team in 7 aside netball. GS, in shooting circle. GA behind the line in their shooting third. GD, behind the line diagonal from GA. GK, is in the opposite from GS in the other teams shooting circle. WA, stands to the right of GA. WD, is behind the line diagonal from WA. C in the middle third. There is also another team with same positions.

Basic Rules
Different from basketball, Netball you cannot step with the ball as soon as you get the netball in your hands you cannot move only pivot around on your grounded foot. You are not allowed to push and shove in netball if you do that is called obstruction. Only GS GA and the opposite team GD, GK are allowed in the shooting circle. C is allowed everywhere on the court apart from the shooting circle.
This is where the players are allowed: Image result for Diagram of of where the players are allowed on a netball court
Equipment
Bibs are pieces of fabric with elastic that you slip on over your clothes they say what position you are playing. To play netball you need to use a netball so you have something to pass around the court. Something that you also use is a goal that you shoot your netball in and that's how you get points by shooting goals. It’s a rule that you have to wear sneakers/trainers so you can run around and pivot on the hard concrete and also so if someone stands on your foot it won’t hurt.

Types of 7aside netball
First there is outdoor netball which is played normally at day time and outside. Then indoor netball is like outdoor but has some different rules and it’s played inside. The 3rd is twilight which is played outside but it’s played at night in the dark but it has the same rules as outdoor.

New Zealand Netball team
The New Zealand team is a big part of NZ. The silver Ferns are NZ netball team and they play to represent New Zealand. The players in 2017 are:
Katrina Grant, Captain/ GD, GK              Grace Rasmussen, WA, C, GA
